YouTuber Christopher Hughes was granted $100,000 bail when he appeared in court on Monday afternoon on a sedition charge.
Known online as Chris Must List, Hughes has been in custody since last week.
He was later charged with Publishing a Statement with Seditious Intention, after he posted videos featuring alleged gang members, some of whom spoke and brandished weapons.
A report by the T&T Express says Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami ordered that his passport be handed over to the High Court Registrar by noon today
She also stated that if he is able to access bail, he should reside at the home of his attorney Criston Williams, until his next appearance before the court on Thursday morning.
Williams, who was seeking Hughes’ legal interest since his arrest, yesterday indicated to the court that he was withdrawing himself from the matter, but had no issue with Hughes staying at his residence “for only two days.”
Former attorney general Anand Ramlogan and Russell Warner appeared for Hughes during the hearing, while Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Danielle Thompson appeared on behalf of the State.
